It is Christmas time and I have not been fortunate enough to partake in Christmas cheer or any other holiday festivities. No parties, no shopping, no caroling, nothing. My year is ending the same as how it started, by being busy with deadlines, generating new business, training and not having more time for my personal life.
Therefore, all I would like for Christmas is more time. Time to focus on activities I am very passionate about as well as more time to work on fun projects that may not have the biggest payout, but means the world to me. The last two days I worked over 24 hours and I feel it is time to give myself the gift of free personal time. But how?

I gave up a full time career to pursue my own business; however, with all the freedom in the world running your own business can provide are challenges that can affect your business plan. When I first started Reis Financial Solutions, I found myself wanting to provide too many services that a small professional firm should provide.
It is never good to be the jack of all trades and be perceived as the master of nothing.
As time moved forward I realized which services were easier to sell and which were not well received by the general public. Therefore, over the past year the majority of my time was contract accounting for small to medium size companies, one contract taking up to 60%-75% of my time. The only problem was it required too much of my time which wasn't needed. I do enjoy contract accounting for smaller businesses, as there is more flexibility to be creative with suggestions for management to improve their operations.
I created Adviser Assistant to showcase my professional money management spreadsheets used in my private practice for individuals and small business owners. Even though it is a fairly new website I would like to allocate the majority of my time to building more spreadsheets and increase the traffic to this site. I love creating spreadsheets and it is my favorite business activity. I want to make Adviser Assistant the largest provider of money management spreadsheets on the internet. Ideally, with the launch of my new online store front (coming soon), I would like to be more mobile with my business and spend more of my year in remote areas in the world volunteering, traveling, and living my dreams.
I have already mobilized my accounting services by remote access as well my wealth management clients are already mobile (the joys of living in a global village). Now it is time to make a leap of faith and pursue the next chapter in my business and more importantly in my life. My goal is to provide a valuable service that is needed by many at a fair price with very little of my time required in the office.
I appreciate any suggestions for templates or spreadsheets you would like to see created. As a Christmas gift from me to you readers, I will take the first five suggestions for spreadsheet tools/templates and have them available for free on the 'Free Spreadsheet Tools' page.
